Physical Therapists

Barbara Bevis-Hamel, PT is a 1990 graduate of Russell Sage College. She opened Helping Hands Physical Therapy in 2002 so she could use her manual skills to provide individualized care for people who suffer from a range of musculoskeletal injuries. Her specialty is treating the spine: disc injuries, headaches, TMD. Although she is lovingly referred to as “the mean one” – she is very gentle and kind with people in pain. Patients on the higher spectrum of their rehab can look forward to fun and challenging exercises that will improve their overall posture and functional capabilities – this isn’t your typical gym class!

Alexander J. Chlopecki II, PT is a graduate of D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. He has 25+ years experience in the rehabilitation of patients with orthopedic and sports medicine injuries. Alex believes in an eclectic approach to therapy with emphasis on manual therapy and functional training techniques to get patients back to work, living and play. Alex enjoys working with all orthopedic and sports related diagnoses but has a special interest in treatment of the cervical spine and shoulder. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family as well as running, biking and hiking. He is an Adirondack 46er and former IRONMAN Athlete.

Kristie Gunter, PT is a 1992 graduate of Ithaca College. She is also a certified personal trainer. Kristie enjoys the challenge of coming up with new and personalized exercises in order to return her patient back to whatever activity they are striving to get back to.

Kiel Kyer, PT is a local from Cambridge who graduated from Russell Sage College with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree. He uses a balanced approach of hands-on care and exercise in order to decrease pain and restore functional movement. He has extensive clinical experience in helping patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses. From being a multi-sport athlete (Football, Lacrosse, and Rugby), Kiel enjoys working with a wide range of athletes in order to help them return to their pre-injury level of activity. In his spare time he likes to watch sports, work out, and go on long walks with his German ShortHaired Pointer (Maxi).

Amy Solan, PT is a 1998 graduate of Quinnipiac University. Amy has spent her career specializing in pediatric therapy and home care. Her kind and patient demeanor allows her to build a trusting relationship with her very young clients and their families.

Amy Zegers, PT is a 1992 graduate of Ithaca College. She has extensive experience in orthopedic, sports, and cardiopulmonary rehab. She enjoys helping people to discover and achieve their goals.

Office Staff

Heather Raney, Billing is a 1989 graduate of Greenwich High School.

Erica Goodling, Office Manager is a 2007 graduate of Schuylerville High School. She has over 10 years experience in health care and holds her certificate in Medical Administration.

Boo is a very special cat who has lived at Helping Hands PT for over 10 years now. She is often found curled up on the pillow near patients who might be experiencing physical pain. She enjoys lying directly on those patients who find her soft fur and loud purr comforting. She is indeed a therapeutic kitty loved by all who meet her.  In her free time she enjoys helping the office staff with the filing.
